50% of STEM jobs in U.S. do NOT require a 4-year degree

“A Brookings Institution Report found that 50% of STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math] jobs in the United States do NOT require a four-year college degree.”

Should more funding be put to develop STEM training programs that are not four-year colleges?

“Drawing from high schools, vocational schools and community colleges, these jobs pay annual salaries averaging $73,000 — less than positions requiring a university degree, but $30,000 a year more than those in fields outside science, technology, engineering and math”
